29 April 2010 - At this year's Global Embolization Symposium and Technologies (GEST) meeting, GEST Director Dr. Marc Sapoval and his team from Paris will carry out a live demonstration of a complex embolization procedure.

On Thursday 6 May, between 7.30 and 9.30, the very first Master Class will feature virtual reality embolization of a post biopsy AVF fistula with the use of coils and plugs.

Dr Sapoval said: "A similar case was featured recently by Endovascular Forum where a complex post biopsy transplant kidney arterio fistula embolization occurred. I will be undertaking double fistula complex anatomy which needs precise coil positioning to preserve the kidney function. I am looking forward to this session and the fact that delegates will get to try out the procedure in our GEST Virtual Reality Training Room." Following the Master Class, participants can visit the GEST Virtual Reality Training Room, situated in the Cornell Room to learn it for themselves under the guidance of key experts.

Dr Sapoval will be accompanied by his two colleagues Laurent Bellmann and Olivier Pellerin who all practice at the Hôpital Européen Georges Pompidou.
