1 April 2010 - A US first, the 4th annual Global Embolization Symposium and Technologies (GEST) meeting is moving state side to San Francisco this May. Dedicated to the rapidly growing field of embolization, it will feature the following:


 

  • The largest technical exhibit on embolization
  • More than 40 oral scientific abstracts presentations, as well as numerous posters. "Best of GEST" abstracts will appear in the May 2010 issue of the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology (JVIR)
  • GEST trademarked Master Classes: the event was pioneered and created at GEST; accept no substitutes!

These physician-driven CME Master Classes are aimed at introducing delegates to the latest embolization tools and materials on the market including coils,plugs, particles, drug-eluting beads, glue and onyx. In addition there will be:

  • Deep and in-depth review of interventional oncology, aneurysms, AVMS, and GI bleeding
  • This program focuses on top-to-bottom and side-to-side education in all areas of embolotherapy research papers, plenary sessions, Master Classes, Hands-On sessions, case-based Discussions, commentary and open discussion sessions, Top and Bottom Tips, etc. See the full program online (or in your mailbox) at www.gest2010.org

Other key events to look out for include:

May 7
  • "UFE" and "Boys and Girls" session, including practice development in uterine fibroid embolization (UFE), varicocele and the latest state of the art in UFE. GEST is featuring the first plenary session on "Research in Embolization".

    The "Boys and Girls" session includes crossfire-style "Experts on the Couch" discussions, lectures on GYN and varicocele practice growth in a mature market, and many other lectures.
  • Ablation Alley, where the latest ablation techniques will be reviewed
May 9
  • "Potpourris" session, featuring spleen reduction, thoracic duct embolization, benign prostatic hypertrophy and trauma.
